Curtis Thaxter is seeking an associate to join the firm.  The ideal candidate will have between three and six years of experience in litigation, be admitted to practice in Maine, and demonstrate strong academic credentials and superior research and writing skills.  Job responsibilities will include conducting legal research and discovery, drafting motions and pleadings, counseling clients, and representing them before state and federal courts, state agencies, and municipal boards.  A successful associate will be willing to work with attorneys and staff at all levels, will have a strong client service ethic, and will be able to work independently.  Curtis Thaxter also has a varied and robust corporate and transactional practice.   An ideal candidate will be willing to work, as needed, on matters outside of litigation and assist the firm’s real estate, utility, and employment practices.  Curtis Thaxter provides training and career opportunities that will help each individual to develop professionally while also providing time to enjoy a unique quality of life that only Maine can offer.  We take pride in developing attorneys who are as engaged in their communities as they are at work.

Associates with 0-3 years of relevant experience: base salary range of $95,000-$110,000 based upon years of experience with eligibility to earn bonuses based on production, origination, and discretionary factors. Associates with 3+ years’ experience: base salary range of $110,000-$125,000 based on experience, performance, skills, and other relevant factors with eligibility to earn bonuses based on production, origination, and discretionary factors.

ASSOCIATE  ATTORNEY– Corporate, Healthcare, and Real Estate Transactions (Entry Level)

Curtis Thaxter is seeking an associate attorney (with between zero and four years of experience), with a background or interest in commercial real estate, healthcare and/or corporate law, to join dynamic and growing practices within the firm. Our clients include large and small businesses, developers of affordable housing and community development projects, health care practices, individual health care providers and entrepreneurs.

Our practice often involves projects where the completed work requires a multidisciplinary approach and substantial client contact. Working in small teams, you will develop skills and experience in a wide range of business and real estate transactions. Your responsibilities will be commensurate with your skills and experience but may include drafting governance documents for entities and overseeing corporate and real estate transactions including representing buyers, sellers and lenders involved in the acquisition, sale and development of commercial real estate. You may also support the firm’s healthcare group in representing physicians and other health care providers and entities by providing guidance on compliance issues and preparing and advising on employment and other entity agreements.
