Litigation Attorney

Curtis Thaxter is seeking an experienced civil litigation attorney to join the firm. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong academic credentials and communication skills, will be willing to work with attorneys and staff at all levels, and will maintain our high client service ethic. Job responsibilities will include drafting motions, briefs and discovery requests, and representing clients before state and federal courts, state agencies and municipal boards. We provide training and career opportunities that help our attorneys develop professionally while also providing time to enjoy a unique quality of life that only Maine can offer.

Real Estate Paralegal

Curtis Thaxter is seeking an experienced Real Estate Paralegal to support our busy real estate practice.  Duties related to assisting multiple attorneys include, but are not limited to:

•  Conducting title research online with various Registries of Deeds

•  Preparation of title insurance commitment, policies, endorsements and affidavits

•  Preparation of Deeds and other ancillary documents required to transfer property

•  Prepare for and participate in real estate closings

•  Electronic recording of documents

Applicant must have strong analytical and interpersonal skills, be self-motivated and responsive to priorities. The ideal candidate should also be attentive to detail, possess excellent communication skills (oral and written), and work effectively alone or as a member of a team. Prior experience in the duties noted above preferred.
